It’s been a little while since I posted about our home makeover journey. This installment is about carpets. Our children have trashed them. What the kids didn’t stain, the cat did. I’m one of those people who like things to look perfect after I’ve cleaned and it irks me to no end that I vacuum and still have to see the spots. I’ve tried cleaning them with soap and water, shampooing them myself, and even having them professionally cleaned, but it just didn’t get the stains out.
Ultimately, I want new carpets, but at the moment, we have kids going to college and other expenses and replacing carpets just isn’t in the budget. As a temporary fix, we are using area rugs in the places where the stains are bad.
This serves a couple of purposes – it makes the floors look nicer and also gives a little bit more cushion under our feet in higher traffic areas.
For the master bath, we got the Trusoft Lattice Design Bath Rug in Bali Blue. It’s such a really nice blue color. It goes well in my bathroom and makes it look so much better. The durable 100‐Percent nylon pile feels unbelievably soft under your feet, and as I’m usually barefoot when I’m in this room, that’s a nice bonus for me.
Doesn’t it look FABulous?
For the dining room, we chose the STAINMASTER Colorful Lace Medallions Area Rug. I love the way it looks. It’s just the perfect size for the room and it really accents everything. Because the rug is multi‐colored, it’s not really a big deal if something gets on it anyway.
Speaking of things staining carpets, one of the reasons I chose STAINMASTER is because they’re stain resistant. You just spot clean them with mild soap and water or have them professionally cleaned. I think that even after we get our new carpeting I’ll keep them anyway, just because they’re so nice and easily cleaned.
They feature a latex backing that helps prevent them from sliding and you don’t need to purchase a rug pad to place under them. Obviously, since we’re putting them over our current carpet, this isn’t an issue for us, but for those of you with hard wood floors or linoleum, these rugs are a great option.
They’re also proudly made in the USA, which is always something I try to stand behind.
Overall, I really like the way they improve the look of those two rooms. I’m considering getting a few more for some other rooms to spruce them up as well.
More to come in the makeover journey – stay tuned!
