Relaxing DIY treatment for Busy Moms

by

Between my children’s schedules and running my household, rarely am I able to find the time to truly relax, let alone make a trip to the spa. However, as a solution, I recently started pampering myself at home.

DIY Mango Body Scrub

It all started with a trip I took with my family this past winter to Hawaii. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency, and as one of the more popular hotels in Honolulu, I wanted to be sure to check out their spa. For days after my Lomi Lomi facial, my skin felt amazing and I thought about how I could perform the same treatment at home. After my trip, I did some research and I found a body scrub recipe that is almost identical to the treatment I had done at the spa. I use the scrub on my entire body, avoiding only the sensitive area of skin around my eyes.

The scrub takes about five minutes to make. My normal routine is to get up before my husband and children, complete a workout DVD, make breakfast for my crew, and get them off to work and school. As soon as the house is empty, and my morning chores complete, I make this scrub. When I get in the shower, I am ready to pamper myself.

Here is the recipe inspired by the Lomi Lomi facial:

DIY Mango Body Scrub

Mango Body Scrub

Ingredients:

1 ripe mango, chopped
1/4 cup instant oats
1 cup of castor sugar
1 T. sweet almond oil
4 drops essential orange oil
1 T. pineapple juice

Directions: Mix ingredients in blender or food processor until well combined.

I put the scrub in a container with a lid and take it into the shower. First, I rinse with warm water. Next, I put a dollop of the scrub the size of a quarter onto my palm. I rub the scrub onto my skin in a circular motion. I try to leave the scrub on for several minutes. Then, I thoroughly rinse.

After using the mango body scrub, my skin looks and feels refreshed. It even has a slight glow! I tend to get dry patches of skin on my elbows, knees and heels, especially during the dry-winter months. This scrub is perfect for removing this rough skin.

As mothers, we must nurture our children. And we often do not have time to add extra appointments to our schedules. However, there is no reason why we can’t treat ourselves at home!

Enjoy!
