Are you ready to take a break from reality and go on vacation? Um, who doesn’t need a break, right? Although ideally a vacation is suppose to be enjoyable and relaxing, this doesn’t always happens. Stressful situations tend to POP up while you’re on vacation, and this can seem, to RUIN your trip. Instead of worrying about your trip, simply follow these tips for a stress-free vacation.
→ PLAN EARLY
It can be extremely stressful trying to book your trip and figure out what you’re going to do, especially if you wait until the LAST minute. The first step to a stress-free vacation is to start planning EARLY. The moment you know when and where you’re going on vacation, start looking for the best deals on travel and sleep accommodations which have comfortables beds to rest upon. You can also start researching different things to do in the area so that you don’t MISS out on those super fun opportunities.
→ DON’T OVERCOMMIT
When creating your vacation itinerary — try not to overcommit yourself. Your vacation is meant to be relaxing, but a FULL schedule can quickly turn your vacation into STRESS central. And no one wants that, right? If you like having your days all PLANNED out — be sure to pencil in some downtime. This could include a quick nap in the afternoon or a morning lying out on the beach.
→ DISCONNECT YOURSELF
If at all possible, leave your cell phone, tablet, and computer at home! If you do need to bring these electronics with you on vacation, try to keep them in a dresser drawer or in your suitcase to minimize the time you spend on them. Um, there’s nothing you can do about that work or home emergency, so it’s better to just not know about it! Disconnect yourself from your everyday life and focus on getting a little R&R.
→ GO WITH THE FLOW
Let’s face it… things happen and they don’t always go your way. This is especially true when you’re on vacation. You can’t CONTROL the weather or a flight delay. Instead of stressing out about these roadblocks, learn to expect the unexpected. If your flight has been delayed, go with the flow and spend some time working on a vacation scrapbook or renting a TX party bus. If you have to cancel an outdoor excursion because of a rainy day, visit a local museum instead. By making the most of any situation, you’re sure to have a stress-free vacation.
Going on vacation can be stressful. By planning ahead and being flexible — you can eliminate most of the stress you might feel.
