It continues to shock and amaze me to see the prices of wall décor! It doesn’t seem to matter what room of the home you are looking to decorate — wall décor is just PLAIN expensive and it is never unique! This cute little DREAM banner can be made to match any bedroom or could be created with different words for different rooms. It’s easy and inexpensive!
Supplies:
- balsa wood plaques from your local craft store (these come in many shapes and sizes and are predrilled with holes for hanging)
- multipurpose paint & paint brush
- scrapbooking letter stickers
- ribbon
- scissors
The precut balsa wood plaques are a GREAT option because they are light weight and are ready to use with no drilling, cutting or sanding NEEDED. You could also use trim or molding pieces cut to the right size. These little plaques are about 2 ½” wide and 3”-4” tall.
Instructions:
Step 1
You’ll begin by painting each plaque in the color of your choice. I painted them ALL the same color but you could even do a different color for each letter (that’ll be cute, right?). Allow paint to completely dry and apply a second coat.
Step 2
Decide where you want each letter to be on the individual plaques. Use a pencil or light-colored marker to make a light mark for placing the letter sticker. CAREFULLY place the sticker onto the plaque. You’ll want to be sure you get it RIGHT the first time as the stickers typically cannot be removed and used again.
Step 3
Feed the ribbon you’ve selected through the holes in each plaque. These can be hung vertically or horizontally depending on how you string the ribbon. My little plaques had a hole in each corner and I used one piece of ribbon for a horizontal arch.
Step 4
Tie a knot and loop at each end of your ribbon for hanging. You can also add a bow to the loop for an extra cute detail.
There is nothing else to it! Your new wall décor is ready to hang!
This would be cute in a bathroom with BATH spelled out, near a collage of pictures with FAMILY, HOPE, LOVE…the possibilities are endless!
