Knowing when to move your toddler from a crib to a real bed can be difficult. However, if your toddler is climbing in and out of the crib constantly, it’s time to get a junior or kid’s bed for them. Kid’s beds have changed drastically over the years, and although a hand me down from a relative may seem to be the easiest route, it’s not always the best.
If you’re thinking about purchasing a kids bed for your munchkins, here are some things you need to take into consideration before buying a bed for your child. First off — you have to take the room size into consideration, your budget, the design, the color, safety, construction, and of course, the lifespan expectancy of the bed itself. Another thing to take into consideration is the age and gender of the child. I love the fact that Hayneedle has a good selection of kids and teen beds for boys and girls.
If you have more than one child of the same gender, you may want to look into getting a bunk bed that offers both the twin and full bunk bed option. The younger child can bunk on the top without a problem as long as you have high ceilings. There should be at least two feet of clearance overhead, so the child will not feel somewhat claustrophobic.
There are many different designs to choose from — each with selective finishes. Some examples of bed designs are the sleigh bed, bunk bed, captain’s bed, loft beds, storage beds, canopy bed, platform beds, and many more.
We’re loving this bed, it’s perfect!
I personally went looking for a NEW bed for my munchkins not too long ago. With them being teens (and tweens), I knew that bunk beds were totally out of the question. We’re seriously thinking about purchasing a sleigh ride platform bedfor my daughter, Mia. It’s made of solid wood construction and offers a choice of a walnut or antique white finish. What I like most about this particular design is that it’s available in either a twin OR full size bed.
My daughter is really excited that we’ll be purchasing her a new bed. She loves the look of the sleigh ride platform bed and she loves the ample storage underneath, it’s perfect for her crafts and dolls. She loves the fact that she has a choice of a single or DOUBLE drawer for her storage space. The height of this bed is also adjustable, which is a plus.
I think we’re making a wise choice purchasing this particular bed. She’s actually thrilled it fits her personal style and color choice. Don’t y’all just LOVE it? We sure do!
