It’s mosquito season – yay! (Obviously I’m kidding – mosquitoes and I are not friends!) With this in mind, I wanted to get a gazebo for our back yard as part of the makeover so I had somewhere to hang out in the evenings and enjoy all of our recent hard work. Unfortunately, we don’t have a tremendous amount of space for a gazebo, so I went with this Instant Screened Canopy by Coleman. It’s the same concept, but takes up less space.
It works! This wondrous canopy has helped keep the mosquitoes at bay. There is also plenty of room for all of us in there – it’s a 12×10 space, which is larger than a lot of rooms in people’s homes. I’ll probably use it for my daughter’s graduation party too!
One thing that drew me to this canopy is the removable screen. I can use it with the screen attached or not, so during the day we usually keep it open, and at night, we close it up. It’s got little loops to hold the screen open and zippers to keep it shut as well, kind of like you’d have on a tent. The doors are also nice and big and you don’t have to bend over to get in and out of it which is great for those of you that are on the taller side, like my husband.
It’s also a great option for a campsite. You can put it around your picnic table and eat bug-free. One of the reasons a lot of people don’t camp much is because they don’t like bugs. I’m one of those people. I don’t want to be bothered swatting at flies while I’m eating my dinner! Gross, right?
The UV guard of the canopy also blocks the sun’s rays – so on really sunny days you can take comfort in the shade, and you don’t have to worry if it’s a little windy out – the welded steel feet hold it in place on a variety of surfaces.
Let’s talk about how it goes together – you take it out of the easy carrying bag, snap the pre attached poles into place, and 3 minutes and 3 steps later, you have a screened canopy (you’ll need a little help of course!)! It’s so easy anyone could do it.
That’s all you get on the backyard transformation for now. Hopefully, we’ll be revealing our awesome new space in the next couple months (If I don’t spend too much time relaxing in this screened canopy! It’s way too easy to procrastinate in here.)
