One of the biggest things to come from TikTok has been viral recipes. What starts off as a simple cooking recipe soon blows up and becomes the most sought-after meal. But are they worth the hype? This article will outline four TikTok recipes that meet expectations.

Seafood Boil

Within the past year, seafood boils have become super popular on TikTok. Whether featured on ‘mukbang’ videos, or a step-by-step recipe, people are crazy for the seafood dish, and for good reason. Although the cooking time is long, the recipe itself is relatively easy and the end result is will sure to be a crowd-pleaser!

Here’s what you will need:

  • A seafood boiler
  • Seafood- usually crawfish, clams, shrimp, crab and lobster tails
  • Other ingredients- boiled eggs, sausage, potatoes, corn and butter
  • Spices- Old Bay seasoning, cayenne pepper, black pepper, smoked paprika, cumin and sugar

Feta Pasta

This pasta dish made the rounds on TikTok last year, thanks to its simplicity and because it only requires two pots to make it. This is a great dish to make in a hurry on a school night or even as a starting point for someone learning to cook. The base of this dish is feta and tomatoes, but the spices are easily adaptable so you can season to accommodate your pallet.

  • Oven-proof dish
  • Block of feta
  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Spices of your choice

The popularity of this dish can be tracked down to one user- Emily Mariko. The food blogger went viral after using leftover rice and salmon to make a delicious meal. Her hack for getting evenly heated rice was to put an ice cube on top of the rice then cover with parchment paper before heating in the microwave.

  • Kewpie mayonnaise
  • Soy sauce

Folded Tortilla

Less of a recipe and more of a general food hack, the folded tortilla is a great tip to get the perfect bite every time. TikTok users discovered that by putting the fillings in four corners, then folding the tortilla into quarters means the filling is distributed more evenly, so you are never left with an empty pocket!

Here is what you will need for a breakfast wrap:

For an extra crunch, try grilling the tortilla after folding! Use a good non-stick pan to ensure the best results.
