Summertime means vacation time for a lot of families, right? Finding the perfect place to spend your vacation isn’t always easy. There needs to be something for everyone to do, and minimal “I’m bored” moments from our children.
We were given the opportunity to review California’s Great America in Santa Clara, CA. There are so many wondrous things to do at Great America, including: roller coasters, kiddie rides, water rides, and even the Star Tower. Oh, what fun!
The munchkins favorite ride was the Grizzly, a classic wooden roller coaster. Their second favorite was the Gold Striker, which is the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in Northern California. The Gold Striker is 108.2 feet tall, and goes 53.7 MPH! I think they rode just about every ride in the park, except for the kiddie rides and the Drop Tower.
Everyone agreed that the funnel cake was our favorite! It was huge, and very tasty.
If you have smaller children, Planet Snoopy is a great way to keep them entertained, as well as KidzVille. Planet Snoopy is full of rides with Snoopy Characters like: Peanuts Pirates, Sally’s Love Buggies, and The Pumpkin Patch. Plus, your children can meet Snoopy and the entire Gang of Peanuts characters. KidzVille has rides like the Fender Bender 500 (better known as bumper cars), Junior Jump Club (a smaller version of the Drop Tower), Classic Cars, and so much more!
This is definitely a great vacation destination for families, or even for couples. Great thrills, delicious food, and tons of fun!
The 100-acre theme park is located on Great America Parkway between highways 101 and 237 in Santa Clara, Calif. Open March through October. For more information, call (408) 988-1776 or visit www.cagreatamerica.com.
