I “CHEWS” TO BE STRONG WITH VIACTIV

by

Maintaining healthy and strong bones is so important, no matter what stage of life you’re in. Teenagers need them to grow, and though I’m not anywhere near the age that Osteoporosis is common, I figure the more preventative measures I can take, the better. It can never hurt to start being proactive about your health, and that’s a value I try to instill in my children.

Here are some disturbing facts about calcium and osteoporosis: 68% of women and 86% of teenage girls have calcium‐deficient diets. For teenagers, this comes at a crucial time for bone health since 95% of bone building occurs before the age of 20. You can find more information here.viactiv soft chews

For older women, it’s important to not lose the bone density they do have. Think about elderly people fracturing hips. How many women have you heard of it happening to and how many men? I honestly don’t know one man that’s had a fractured hip. That’s because it happens more often to women. Other factors that come into play include ethnicity and environment. Obviously, people who live in icy climates are more likely to slip and break a hip than those that live in the desert.

Because of this, my daughter and I “Chews to be Strong with Viactiv” (pun intended). Since my daughter is always active and on the go, she finds it challenging to make healthy diet choices, especially now that she’s in college. It’s way too easy to grab some garbage out of a vending machine when they’re everywhere she turns. I’ve encouraged her to start taking Viactiv, the #1 doctor‐recommended calcium chew. They’re individually wrapped and available in both milk chocolate and caramel flavors, so she just throws one in her lunch bag and eats it with lunch and dinner. Speaking of lunch bags, check out this cute one that Viactiv sent her!

Even if she forgets the dinner chew, she still gets 500 mg of calcium with 500 IU of Vitamin D, which helps her #BeActiv in her bone health. Considering that teen girls require 1300 mg daily of calcium and at least 600 IU of Vitamin D, Viactiv keeps her on track. She also eats a lot of calcium rich foods like low fat yogurt and smoothies.

Now that you know the facts about calcium and are thinking of your own teenage daughter, don’t forget to head over to Viactiv.com and grab a $2 printable coupon to save a little on your next container. Details below.
