If you’re like a lot of other people, your treadmill holds your out of season clothing, right? (Um, don’t worry. Your secret’s safe with me.) The problem with exercise is that it’s hard work. And who wants to do that? Now you can make exercise time play time, even if it involves a treadmill. I was asked to review Goji Play, and let me tell you, exercise is no longer a chore. This is the COOLEST gadget to come to the fitness scene in a very long time.
SO WHAT IS GOJI PLAY?
It’s a set of wireless controllers that you clip to any cardio equipment. You hook up your iPad, iPad mini, iPhone, or iPod Touch, and you get to be part of a video game. How cool, right? Your activity moves your character in the game. Since it turns exercise into a game, instead of staring at those numbers on the treadmill waiting for them to say 30:00 (the longest half hour of the day for sure!), you won’t even realize that you’ve already gone way past that mark because you’re so into it. You can ski, skate, ride a snowboard, and even become a flying hippo for your workout. (Um…no pun intended. There really is a game called Flying Hippo). There are lots of other different games and apps available, and many of them are free. Who doesn’t love free, right?
I’m sure you’ve met one of those annoying people who talk about how much they absolutely love working out and how they can’t go a day without it or they feel awful. And if you’re like me, you’ve considered that they may just be insane. Truthfully, they’re not. The secret to their love of exercise is that they’ve found a way to make working out fun for them. With Goji play, you’ll want to exercise more, because you’ll want to get farther in the game and beat your own score. You don’t have to tell anyone it’s really a video game addiction rather than an exercise addiction.
GojiPlay users say that 30 minutes of exercise feels like 5 minutes of play. Key features of Goji Play include:
- Hot hardware: Attach the wireless game controllers to cardio equipment, clip on the activity sensor, and transform cardio equipment into an interactive video game.
- Personalized workout experiences: Your movement impacts your success in the video games — the faster you move, the better you play.
- Games galore: Keep it fresh with a selection of 20 compatible games (17 free) available on iTunes.
- Real-time fitness metrics: With Goji Play’s app, set and track fitness goals and watch your progress in real-time during your workout.
Another cool thing about Goji play is that you can bring it with you WHEREVER you go. You’ll be bringing your phone or tablet anyway, so you just add the controllers to the bag. You can use it at hotels, at the gym, at friend’s houses, or in the privacy of your own home. Keep an eye on it though – once everyone sees how much you love working out, they’re going to want to borrow it. You can always buy them their own so you can keep yours all to yourself – they’re $69.99 at Amazon
