Do you watch the Simpsons? I did when I was a kid (that show has been on FOREVER!). Anyway, the part where Homer gets some sort of goodie and says something like, “Mmmmm…Choooocooolatttte.” Well, that’s me. I LOVE candy. Especially chocolate. Mostly milk chocolate, but I really don’t discriminate. I also love jelly beans and anything marshmallow. When I got a chance to review See’s Easter Surprise Basket, I was super excited. The original plan was to review it, eat a few pieces, add a gift card, and send it to my daughter at college. To say that didn’t exactly work out as I expected it would is a little bit of an understatement.
I ate most of it. Okay, all 1 lb. 3 oz. of it. And I didn’t wait till Easter. Can you blame me? Take a look!
It was DELICIOUS! I especially liked the Rocky Road egg. The rest of the candy was really good too, but chocolate and nuts is hands down my favorite treat. This egg has walnuts. Even better.
Here’s what I consumed in 2 days:
- Rocky Road Egg (3.7 oz)
- Six Chocolate Assorted Eggs
- Jelly Beans
- Easter Bunny Box with Assorted Chocolates
- Little Milk Chocolate Bunny
It’s all shrink wrapped safe and sound in a basket. Even though I ate the candy, I still plan to send the basket to my daughter at college, after I refill it obviously. It’s made of a thin wood so it isn’t easily crushed, and the colors are nice. (How cute are those baby chicks?) It also arrived to me in perfect condition. I have no doubts that it will make it to my daughter’s apartment safely. And look, I managed to keep the chocolate fingerprints off of it!
The one thing that I didn’t love about the basket is that the bottom has an insert so that the candies stay on top. There was nothing below about an inch. I feel like they could have filled it with grass or something – or jelly beans. More jelly beans. Did I mention that the See’s jelly beans are bigger than the ones at I usually fill my belly kids’ baskets with? Yum!
Also, the bunny is hollow. Some people prefer solid bunnies. In this case, I’m happy for hollow as it may have saved me from having to buy jeans two sizes up.
Do I recommend this basket of goodies? Absolutely. Buy one for everyone you love that lives far away. The basket of chocolatey goodness retails for $33.50, so you can even buy one for a couple of loved ones. They’ll be so thankful. And you never know – they may even fill the basket with something else and send it back to you!
